Welcome back to class! This is Spring 2012, and it is starting off very well. I do apologize for not posting lately my computer crashed and I couldn't access the site! However, I am back on track, and we are ready to roll.
We have started reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Throuhgout this unit we will be focusing on character development, theme, symbolism, and we will be looking at how the author brought in real, historical events into her book, and how she adapted them to make a full bodied and meaningful text.
This book is a very good text, and it relates very closely to the students' hometown as it is set in a very small farming town, and while it is set in the Great Depression, the students are definitely seeing a connection.
***Parents: your student has reading almost every night. Your child should follow his/her calendar on the website to make sure he/she is up on the homework and assignments in class.
***Students: Remember to go to the blog and respond to my questions and queries for extra credit.
